It covers a lower part of the valley of the Bug River (from Terespol to the Toczna River) and two forests growing on postglacial moraine plateaux. The park is 65 km long and 3 to 5 km wide in its eastern part located in the Lubelskie Voivodship.
Poplar and willow riparian woods are the most precious natural ecosystems protected within the park. Here grows one of the rarest plants in Poland – the endangered orchid species of Neottianthe cucullata. The natural beauty of the park is enhanced by scenically situated historic buildings, such as Uniate churches in Krzyczew and Stary Bubel, ruins of the palace of Lutsk Diocesian bishops in Janów Podlaski, or the Arabian horse stud farm in Wygoda. A large area of the landscape park is included in the EU ecological network Nature 2000.
