Mucharyniec (Muszaryniec)

2. Mucharyniec

The mysterious Mucharyniec forest wilderness is located near Sławatycze, in the Biała Podlaska county. The peculiar place is a perfect circle of 4-5 ha, forming a dry island where the trees grow reluctantly. Local legends speak of a mysterious power that makes it easy to get confused and tangle your paths, and the compasses go crazy there. One of the hearsays says that there used to be an orthodox church in this place, which, in mysterious circumstances, collapsed into the ground. Another version speaks of a meteorite and cosmic rays. What's the truth? Who knowns. The place is still waiting for comprehensive research by scientists.

Emilcin

3. Emilcin

Did you hear about the Roswell incident? You don't have to go across the Big Pond, just check out Emilcin. It is a small village located near Opole Lubelskie. On May 10, 1978, a local farmer, Jan Wolski, met a few little green-faced creatures there. A glistening vehicle was hovering above the ground nearby. The aliens invited Mr. Jan on board and performed painless examinations. They were well-cultured and communicated with a squeaky "titititi" sounds. The unidentified object was also seen by an independent witness, 7-year-old Adaś. Later, the ufologists found many traces of the possibility of such event. The main witness was subjected to careful observations, including the tendency to fantasize. The results were unambiguous: there was human contact with an alien civilization in Emilcin.

Krupe

Near Krasnystaw there is a small village of Krupe with picturesquely situated ruins of a Renaissance castle. The building was erected by Paweł Orzechowski at the end of the XVI century and expanded in the years 1604-1608. After the destruction by the Cossack and Swedish armies and fires in the mid XVII century, the castle was partially rebuilt. Since the second half of the XVIII century it's state has been gradually deteriorating. The walls and traces of moats have survived to this day. Above and below the windows one can see partially preserved sgraffito decorations. According to local legends, in the evenings, a mysterious shadow of a nobleman in a robe walks over the castle walls. It is probably the ghost of one of the castle's owners, looking for a hidden treasure...

Krynica

7. Arianka

One of the oldest and largest pyramids in Poland is located in the Lublin Voivodeship. It is an Arian tomb situated on a forested hill near the town of Krynica (Krasnystaw district). The building, almost 20 meters high, was probably erected in the XVII century - much earlier than the famous pyramidal tomb in Rapa (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). It is the resting place of a nobleman, Paweł Orzechowski, Chamberlain of Chełm. Since he was an Arian, he could not be buried in the cemetery for Catholics. Local legends claim that in the past there was an underground corridor leading from the castle in Krupe to the tomb.

Neple

9. Neple

Near the village of Neple, by the Bug river, there is a stone shrouded in legends, resembling a woman's silhouette. It's the so-called "stone maiden". How did he get here? Who, when, and for what purpose put it there? Some see the penitential cross in the figure. One of the local legends, however, says that it is a young girl who got turned into stone by her mother. The stone girl slowly bends forward and when she touches the ground with her forehead, she will come to life... Fairy tales? Maybe. Scientists are not able to clearly answer the question about the function of similar boulders.

Kniazie

The whole world, from Warsaw to Hollywood, has heard about the village of Kniazie near Lubycza Królewska and the atmospheric ruins of a Greek Catholic church there. It's there where the scenes for the Paweł Pawlikowski's film "Cold War" were shot. The film was nominated for an Oscar in 2019 in three categories: "best foreign-language film", "best director" and "best cinematography". Ukrainian Greek Catholic church of st. Paraskeva the Martyr was built in the years 1798-1806. The church was destroyed during the battles of German and Soviet troops in 1941, and then burned down in 1944.

Zawieprzyce

10. Zawieprzyce

For those planning a trip to the vicinity of Lublin, we recommend Zawieprzyce, a place where Maria Curie-Skłodowska used to spend her holidays. On the high slope over the Wieprz River, there are picturesquely situated palace ruins, that survived together with some valuable buildings from the XVII and XIX centuries: a chapel, an orangery, an entrance gate, and a storehouse. The legend of the ruins of an old palace is intriguing. Once upon a time, after King Jan III Sobieski's expedition to Vienna, Lublin castellan, Jan Granowski, in exchange for his achievements in combat, returned to Zawieprzyce with many Turkish prisoners. Fate wanted that a beautiful Greek Theophania was among these poor people. Granowski strove for the woman's favor for a long time, but to no avail. One of the captives was her lover, and it was him that her heart belonged to. The jealous castellan, known for his cruelty, decided to punish the unfortunate couple by walling them up alive in a chamber. Since then, the place has not known peace and to this day, when the new moon falls, you can meet two innocent souls walking around the ruins of the castle.

Magical hills in Podgórze and Zubowice

001 Mucharyniec Lubelskie

There are places in the Lublin Voivodeship where the gravity does not work as expected. Instead of going downhill the car left in neutral rolls up the road! Magnetic disturbances, water veins, evil powers, or maybe just an optical illusion? The fact is that the magical hills in Zubowice Kolonia (Zamość County) and in Podgórze (Chełm County) attract doubters who want to see this extraordinary phenomenon with their own eyes.
