One of the oldest and largest pyramids in Poland is located in the Lublin voivodeship. It is an Arian "tomb" located on a forested hill near the town of Krynica (Krasnystaw county). The building, almost 20 meters high, was probably erected in the XVII century - much earlier than the famous pyramidal tomb in Rapa (Warmian-Masurian voivodeship).
The stone and brick mausoleum has an internal crypt. In the centre, there is an entrance opening provided with a grate. Round openings on the other three walls act as windows. The solitary tomb has one more entrance which up until recently was hidden below the ground level. It most probably leads to the cellular chamber. The original topping of the pyramid is now kept in the Regional Museum in Krasnystaw. The intriguing tombstone is the resting place of the wealthy Calvinist, Piotr Orzechowski - the owner of the aforementioned XVI century Renaissance castle in the nearby village of Krupe. The forest hill with the pyramid is connected with numerous hearsays about his adventurous life and cruel deeds, as well as the treasures hidden here.
