The castle buildings are the seat of the National Museum in Lublin (formerly the Lublin Museum), the collections of which have been gathered in several departments, including archaeological, numismatic, military, and ethnographic one. The painting gallery exhibits the famous painting by Jan Matejko, "The Union of Lublin", as well as valuable works by Polish and foreign artists.

The Romanesque defensive tower, also known as the "keep" or the "donjon", is the oldest building on the castle hill. At its top there is an observation deck with a magnificent view of the Old Town and the surrounding area.

The castle's XIV century Holy Trinity Chapel is one of the most important places in Lublin. At the behest of King Władysław Jagiełło, its interior was decorated with Ruthenian-Byzantine frescoes, which makes it a unique monument both in the country and Europe.
