The labyrinth of corridors winding under the city was the result of chalk excavation from the 16th to the early 20th century. Michalak House - a legacy of art We invite you to visit Michalak House, the late 18th-century manor in Kazimierz Dolny. A guided tour of the historic rooms provides rich insight into the emergence of the artists’ colony of Kazimierz Dolny in the 1920s. The story of the town is entwined with that of the house and its proprietors, and illustrated in the collection of fine art and historic artefacts, with works by Antoni Michalak, Janusz Michalak and Jan Michalak.
